How it Works
TIPS BY PHONE
1-800-422-1494
Calls are accepted on the Nebraska Crime Stoppers tips hotline. Staff members will answer the calls and forward the information. The call is anonymous and staff will assign a Nebraska Crime Stoppers identification code number to obtain the information.
TIPS BY COMPUTER
Nebraska Crime Stoppers began operations on January 2, 1989 with a statewide, toll-free telephone number for people to call and provide crime-solving tips to law enforcement.
Leaving a Tip by telephone…
Staff members will answer the calls and forward the information – first by telephone, then by email or letter, to the appropriate law enforcement agency that has jurisdiction in the area where the crime was committed. The staff members will not ask for the caller’s name. Instead they will assign the Tipster a Nebraska Crime Stoppers identification code number and obtain the tip information.
Leaving a Tip by computer, tablet or phone…
NCS uses the TipSubmit system, which strips the Tipster’s IP address and other identifying information, provides an anonymous identification number and presents a form to input Tip information. When completed, information is forwarded through NCS to the appropriate agency.
CASH REWARDS PAID…
If the Tip provided leads directly to solving a crime, the Nebraska Crime Stoppers Board will review the case to determine if the Tipster should receive a Cash Reward. Tipster’s are instructed to check back with NCS to see if they will receive a reward for the information provided.
